Genesee Community College (GCC) was founded in 1966 as part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system after a successful publicly voted referendum. Guiding the College through all endeavors through the years is the continuous dedication to meeting the changing needs of students and the community. All academic programs offered by Genesee Community College have been approved by the State University of New York. The State University of New York has authorized the College to award the degrees of associate in arts, associate in science, associate in applied science and specified certificates.Genesee Community College is located just outside the City of Batavia in upstate New York. Centered between the greater metropolitan areas of Buffalo and Rochester. The Batavia campus and College Village, the student residence community adjacent to the main campus, are nestled amid the scenic hills and farmland of the quiet Genesee County countryside. Yet less than 40 minutes away are two urban areas teeming with cultural, sporting and civic opportunities.
