About institution

Anglia Ruskin University's story begins in 1858 when the art critic, patron, and philanthropist John Ruskin opened the Cambridge Art School. Cambridge is internationally renowned as a centre of learning. ARU has been in Cambridge since 1858, when the Cambridge School of Art first opened its doors. The friendly, bustling campus is a five minute walk from the historic city centre with its vibrant cultural and social scene. ARU College offers undergraduate and postgraduate pathways for applicants that do not meet the requirements for direct entry, have not studied the subjects required for the chosen degree, or spent some time out of education. Following completion of the ARU College pathway, students will benefit from direct entry onto an ARU degree.
