For a century, San José City College (SJCC) has provided educational and career pathways to generations of families living in California's third-largest city. Since its establishment in 1921, SJCC has adapted to the rapid changes that have transformed the Valley of Hearts Delight into Silicon Valley, a major driver of the state and global economy. The College offers a variety of Associate Degrees and certificate programs leading directly to workplace readiness and gainful employment. During the 2020-2021 academic year, the College awarded 1,000 associate degrees and 654 certificates. The diverse student body reflects the changing demographics of California's various racial/ethnic groups: 5% African American, 30% Asian, 13% Caucasian, 42% Hispanic, ~1% Native American, ~1% Pacific Islander, 6% Unknown. Comprehensive programs and services support the diversity of the community, of which SJCC is so rightfully proud. San José City College offers a broad range of student activities, sports, and campus clubs to meet every student’s interest. International students are encouraged to take part in clubs on campus or start new ones. The International Student Program also hosts social events each semester to give students many opportunities to make new friends and unforgettable experiences. San José City College provides great preparation and support for international students to transfer to a university to complete their bachelor’s degree. The courses offered at San José City College are equivalent to what 1st and 2nd year students would typically take at a university. San José City College is located in the heart of the “Silicon Valley,” home to many of the world’s largest technology corporations.
