The Extended Accelerator Program (EAP) may be completed in a few as three semesters and is for students seeking an immersive English-learning experience.
The program gives students a firsthand, practical, and cultural understanding of the American University campus and the Washington, DC, area through its contextual curriculum. Students may enter the program in the spring or fall and progress into year two of their undergraduate education with up to a full year’s worth of academic credits. Depending on their intended degree, they may choose their elective curriculum in social sciences, humanities, or the sciences.
The Extended Accelerator - Bachelor of Arts - Journalism program helps students hone their skills with courses in various forms of writing, advanced reporting, digital media, journalism ethics, race and community reporting, investigative journalism, podcasting, and communication law. They will study with the School of Communication's richly experienced faculty. They will take advantage of the most advanced video, audio, and film equipment in Media Innovation Lab as they gain confidence being behind and in front of the camera. They will graduate with strong writing and reporting abilities, an impressive multimedia portfolio, and connections throughout the industry.
