The Department of Chemistry at Whittier College is home to a dynamic group of scholars—both professors and students—whose interests in chemistry and biochemistry are broad and connect with many other fields, and who have strong foundational knowledge and a passion for cutting-edge research. Among the graduates of this program are Ph.D. research chemists and biochemists, doctors, pharmacists, teachers, lawyers, forensic scientists, public health officials, and genetic counselors, to name a few. Students in this program are encouraged to develop their ideas and test their theories through student-faculty research projects within the department, as well as through their own self-designed senior project.
