English For Academic Purposes (EAP1)

The Southern English College English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP1) level is the first level in a two-level, 24-week EAP program. The primary goal for English for Academic Purposes (EAP) students is to provide them with the skills necessary to fully integrate into an Australian University undergraduate course. The EAP program is designed to prepare students for the academic rigor of a degree course learning and assessment environment, with a focus on critical thinking, academic writing, and presentation skills. The four macro-skills are effectively integrated, which optimizes the possibility of a student becoming an autonomous learner, a pre-requisite for academic success at a university level. By the end of the program, students will be able to confidently and effectively participate in a university lecture, laboratory class, and/or a workshop. The main delivery mode is face-to-face. However, online materials and homework will provide students the opportunity to study outside the classroom in their own time.
