The Environmental Management MSc programme enables students to develop the knowledge and skills required to implement environmentally sustainable solutions within businesses and organizations around the world. Environmental Management is of increasing importance to all types of organizations both within the UK and worldwide; there is a growing need for qualified and trained environmental managers and, as environmental challenges have become ever more apparent, this demand shows no signs of abating. Learners will explore contemporary environmental issues and solutions, such as carbon footprint, waste management, and environmental auditing. They can also benefit from industry-based projects, expert guest-lectures, and industry professional contributions from links including Environment Agency, Affinity Water, and local authorities. This programme provides a flexible and broad approach to study and a firm grounding in the essentials of environmental management, including environmental auditing, the choice, design and use of a range of environmental tools and methods including EIA, ERA, Lifecycle Assessment and knowledge of environmental policy and legislation. Studying on this accredited Environmental Management MSc is the first step to becoming a Chartered Environmentalist. This programme includes professional accreditation by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), and the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM), and so offers genuine career development opportunities to all students. Successful graduate have embarked on careers with a wide variety of employers within the environmental management sector, including environmental consultancy, the water supply industry and government agencies such as the Environment Agency and the Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs. Others have commenced doctoral level studies and developed careers in research and education.
