Australian Institute of Higher Education (AIH)
The Associate Degree of Business (Management) is embedded in the Bachelor of Business (Management) and has been designed as an exit qualification. It prepares students with the skills needed for paraprofessional of management and office administration roles in any business and further study at the bachelor level. The course provides students with a broad general education focusing on developing students’ knowledge and skills in business administration and management. Students are required to study nine core units which include Academic Skills for Success; Marketing Foundations; Business Communication and Stakeholder Management; Accounting for Managers; Principles of Management and Organisations; Foundations of Information Technology; Business and Corporations Law; Statistical Data Analysis for Business; and Leadership and Evidence-based Business Decision Making. These core units are enhanced with seven specialised management units which brings together the sub-disciplines of people and organisations, global business and data analysis. Some of the higher level units are generic, including those dealing with operational, law and leadership. Others develop a theme-based approach considering issues around globalisation and human resource management. Students select two electives out of a pool of units to complement the core and specialised units. These studies are designed to produce graduates who have effective and industry relevant knowledge and skills and who demonstrate capabilities for leadership in the business area.
