The Political Science major is designed to help students attain a deeper understanding of politics in its various dimensions. The department encourages students to study politics at local, state, national, and international levels and to become theoretically sophisticated in their analyses. Students can focus on American politics, law and politics, comparative politics, international relations, and political theory, but we encourage all students to engage with several of these subfields as they explore various issues areas such as power, democracy, inequality, and conflict. In addition to taking courses, students can pursue independent research under the guidance of individual faculty members.
