The UW Mechanical Engineering MS program offers two options: thesis (Plan A) or non-thesis (Plan B). Both tracks offer opportunities to take graduate coursework in topics of thermal fluids, materials, experimentation, computational tools, and more. The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering program provides advanced knowledge in the principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, and dynamics. Students engage in specialized studies such as fluid mechanics, robotics, thermodynamics, and system design. Through a combination of coursework and research projects, they develop skills in problem-solving, engineering analysis, and design processes. Graduates are prepared for careers in various industries, including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, and energy, as well as roles in research and development.
