Australian College of Community & Health Sciences (ACCHS)
This course provides students with skills to use a person centred approach to assist with personal care, based on client individual care plans, to assist with their personal care and encourage independence and well-being. Students who demonstrate competency in all units of competency will be granted a full nationally recognised Certificate III qualification. Our students demonstrate a range of factual, technical, procedural and theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support. The course combines both theory and practical training, with the bulk of the learning and assessment in the workplace where learners will be practising newly acquired knowledge through delivery of skills in areas relating to personal care, assisting people to maintain independence in their home of choice and provide welfare and support services to assist some of the most vulnerable people in the community. There are thirteen (13) units of competency in this course. Face to face on campus for 20 hours/wk + 10 hours/wk self-study per week and a 120 hour structured work placement. 6 weeks (including 22 training weeks and 4 weeks holiday).
