Victorian Institute of Technology (VIT)
The General English Course (ELICOS) are intended to provide international students with the English language foundation and skills they need to function in social contexts in Australian society and to undertake further vocational courses. The programs focus on language used in everyday situations and provide a solid foundation in grammar, and the four main skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. The courses integrate the modes of language – that is, listening, speaking, reading and writing to improve students’ understanding of the forms, features, and functions of language. Students will enhance their skills in analysing, responding to and composing a range of texts characteristic of those they will encounter in their social language interaction in Australia.
