The main objective of the MEng program in Automotive Engineering is to provide the opportunity for engineers in industry to upgrade and expand their skills. Graduates of the program will be able to apply their education to various advanced technologies and processes in the automotive sector and other industries. Depending on which option the student selects, the objective of the MEng program can be achieved through either a combination of course work and a project or solely course work. MEng students have exposure to research through projects included in most of the graduate courses. For the course-based option, students must complete 10 courses worth a total of 30 credits, including ENGR 5300G Automotive Engineering and four core courses which are required to be taken by all students in a Master of Engineering program. For the project-based option, students must complete 8 courses worth a total of 24 credits - including ENGR 5300G Automotive Engineering and four core courses which are required to be taken by all students in a Master of Engineering program - as well as a project worth 6 credits. The master’s project provides students with the opportunity to integrate and synthesize knowledge gained throughout their program of study. The chosen topic will be dependent on the area of specialization of the student. All MEng students are admitted to the course-based option. Students may request transfer to the project-based option after at least one term of study, if they find a faculty member who is willing to act as their project supervisor.
