Course overview

What actions should individuals and states take in response to challenges such as refugee crises, global poverty and inequality, and climate change? How can limited healthcare resources be fairly shared among people with differing health needs? What are the ethical consequences of using AI to make decisions that affect people’s jobs, health and wellbeing? The Applied Ethics major will equip you with the knowledge and reasoning skills to engage with some of the most complex ethical problems of our day. You’ll learn how to master ethical concepts, theories and methods; engage with ethical debates; and apply your skills to ethical problems that arise in areas such as healthcare, business, work, science, technology and the environment. You’ll be equipped for a challenging but rewarding career developing and implementing the kinds of solutions needed for humanity to live well both now and into the future.
