Students who complete an Accounting Major will obtain the foundational skills and knowledge needed to enter the workforce as an accountant. This is a dynamic career option, because the role of accountants in business has shifted in recent years, from a strictly financial focus to more strategic work, supporting corporate governance. Additionally, accountants are now often required to have specialised knowledge of information systems.Students who complete an Accounting Major will be eligible to apply for membership of CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ), and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA).
