Course overview

The MSc in Engineering (Renewable & Sustainable Energy) provides an up-to-date overview of climate change, its causes, consequences, and solutions. Energy economics and markets are examined together with socio-economic, energy security and political issues. Energy reduction measures are also analysed. The option renewable technology and energy storage examines all the major renewable energy sources (wind, solar, hydro River, tidal and wave) and how the energy can be assessed, predicted, modelled, and used or stored. The future of renewable energy will rely on innovative forward-thinking businesses, politicians, engineers, and managers and as such this programme also encourages creativity and entrepreneurship to produce solutions to real world problems. To meet the 2050 carbon reduction targets to control climate change most countries have signed targets to transition from traditional fossil fuel energy sources to renewable and sustainable energies. This specialism offers a graduate a chance to access this exciting, growing and highly innovative field.
