Course overview

BSc(Hons) Psychology is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS), so students will get the Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) alongside their degree. That's the initial recognized standard students need to become a practicing psychologist. Built around the core BPS curriculum, the course will help students apply academic knowledge to real-world situations learning from internationally-recognised researchers and practitioners. Students will gain advanced psychological knowledge and valuable transferable skills, becoming a strong communicator and problem solver. Hands-on experience with measures and equipment and approaches in practical sessions will develop their knowledge further. Mentored by a personal tutor, students will undertake work-based learning, have the opportunity to go on a placement, and participate in research projects. In the final year, they'll complete an independent research project in an area of their interest. If students choose to do a placement, they'll spend a year working in a public, private or voluntary sector organization between the second and final year.
