Course overview

This practical degree opens doors to a wide variety of careers and can serve as the first step in training to become a qualified psychologist.   Students will explore the breadth of human experience and learn how to understand and predict behavioural patterns. Practical workshops will enable students to put evidence-based knowledge into practice and develop skills in research, analysis, reasoning and critical thinking.   Students will cover all areas of psychology from biological and cognitive psychology, lifespan development, social psychology, historical issues and research methods.  As well, they have access to a dedicated laboratory with specialist equipment for eye-tracking and recording psycho-physiological measures such as brain activity and heart rate.   The degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). Upon successful completion, students will be able to obtain a Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC), which is an essential requirement if they wish to qualify as a professional psychology.    Psychology is a highly versatile degree that will equip students with the transferable skills to work in fields as diverse as health, education, social services, advertising, marketing and human resources.
