This major focuses on the study of crime and criminals. The program examines why people commit crimes, how to prevent them, and how society should treat the people who commit crimes. It draws from many disciplines, including sociology, history, psychology, political science, and international relations. You will explore some of the most important issues today. You’ll learn about everything from gangs to terrorism — and how to stop them — as well as victims’ rights and criminal justice reform. And, when you graduate with your degree in criminology from the University of Lynchburg, you’ll be ready to work with many organizations in law enforcement, courts, victim advocacy, or private investigation.
