Law at Abertay University explores the Scottish legal system and the building blocks of Scots law, neatly complemented with subjects from other disciplines. This approach helps students develop a view of the differing contexts in which law operates. Students will also use the university’s moot room for debates and other exercises where they’ll present legal arguments. Work placement and single-term overseas study opportunities may be available in Year 3, with both opportunities designed to broaden the student's knowledge of the law and legal systems. A blend of exams, class tests, coursework, presentations, mooting and a range of practical oral and written assessments combine together to develop the student's ability to present sophisticated arguments and complex information. Abertay recognizes that students have different learning styles and different skills when they start their studies. Abertay's aim is to ensure that they nurture and reinforce understanding of the subjects studied, together with the research and employability skills required in a constantly changing world.
