The field of engineering is generally associated with finding solutions for real world problems in an analytical fashion using the math, science and problem-solving skills. At Lakehead we believe engineers must also possess excellent communication skills as well as an understanding of the business, legal, and societal issues that impact development of the technological products and processes required to meet the demands of a global economy. The unique structure of this programs enables students to earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering in four years while also completing the requirements of a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma by the end of the second year of their BEng degree program. Studying engineering at Lakehead University gives students an unconventional opportunity to gain the skills required by employers. The unique combination of BEng degree with a Diploma in Engineering Technology produces graduates with hands-on experience and theoretical knowledge critical to success.
