George Brown Polytechnic (GBP)
The one-year Construction Techniques certificate program provides a broad overview of popular construction trade areas and offers three intakes per year. Designed to give students basic skills and foundational knowledge, the program prepares individuals to take the next steps in their construction career paths. The curriculum is structured across three semesters: Semester 1 focuses on Electrical and Millwrighting; Semester 2 covers Sheet Metal, Air Conditioning, and Carpentry; and Semester 3 includes Welding, Steamfitting, and Plumbing. Through a combination of hands-on projects and theoretical instruction, students gain valuable experience and confidence in each trade area. This comprehensive approach helps participants make informed career decisions while developing a solid understanding of the overall construction process.
