Schreiner University offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History, featuring concentrations in American or European History. Our program is designed to provide students with a broad and analytical perspective, essential for becoming truly educated and productive citizens. The curriculum begins with lower-level courses that focus on acquiring historical knowledge, developing historical thinking, enhancing writing skills, and conceptual analysis. Upper-division courses and seminars delve into historical research, source evaluation, and critical historical analysis. Our History faculty believes that an objective and accurate assessment of historical trends fosters a greater awareness and appreciation of contemporary society, leading to enhanced individual insight. Employment opportunities for liberal arts graduates, particularly History majors, are expanding significantly. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in teaching, law, foreign and government service, paralegal professions, business, communications, and research. Both the major and minor in History also prepare students for related graduate studies.
