Majoring in elementary education at Barton means learning to teach through a careful balance of theory and practice. Our teachers bring to the classroom expertise backed by years of experience—learning methods and techniques that have real-world application. Then, you’ll put your knowledge to work through extensive field experiences. This combination means you’re knowledgeable, comfortable, and confident when you step into your own classroom. One of the strengths of our program is the numerous practicum experiences we offer. By the time you graduate, you’ll have had extensive experience in the public school classroom beyond the standard student-teaching experience. Along with our strong traditional program, we make the major available to non-traditional adult learners through Barton’s Professional Studies program.
