The MSc in Civil Engineering aims to build on the knowledge and skills obtained by individuals as undergraduates and to help prepare them for a career as consulting civil engineers in the broad spectrum of the professional discipline. The overall objective of this well-established course is to provide a solid scientific, technical, and commercial understanding of civil engineering issues and practice. Students will be introduced to the wide-ranging nature of civil engineering through the integration of knowledge from structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and water engineering. Additionally, the course will offer training in engineering research methods and foster the development of various transferable skills. Students will also gain an appreciation for the principles and activities involved in the day-to-day management of engineering business units, which are typical of those within which civil engineering is practiced. Graduates of this course will possess the ability to work as professional and highly proficient engineers, equipped with the necessary skills and expertise to pursue a range of careers within the field of civil engineering.
