In the beef science major students will study both commercial and purebred cow/calf operations as well as feedlots. Students will start at calving and go through the complete production cycle. Students will finish with beef products – one of the courses is meat science. The Student-Managed Farm (SMF) powered by New Holland choices include purebred, commercial or livestock research units. Or, students may choose a student-led practicum. Through labs and student-managed opportunities students will have a thorough and practical understanding of the beef industry. Students will be ready to start their career in any industry sector, or on their own farm or ranch. Once graduated from this program, students may apply to one of the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology streams. This diploma can be used to complete the Bachelor of Agricultural Technology degree in two years instead of four.
