Bachelor of Science in Computing & Information Studies - Data Science

The major emphasis in Data Science is available to students majoring in CIS. The curriculum focuses on computer modeling, visualization, and data analysis across large sets of information for the purpose of complex problem solving. Courses like Information Visualization, Data Science and Advanced Data Analysis give students a strong foundation in Data Science concepts that benefit them in internships and early career opportunities.The minor in Data Science is available only to students not majoring in CIS. Like the Data Science major emphasis, it will introduce students to the practice of data science, an interdisciplinary field which includes statistical analysis and modeling, ethical data collection and storage, information visualization, computer programming, and oral and written communication. Courses like Advanced Data Analysis, Experimental Psychology, Genomics, Business Analytics, Experimental Philosophy, and Artificial Intelligence give students a strong foundation in Data Science concepts that enhance their major course of study and benefit them in internships and early career opportunities.
