Radiographers, also known as radiographic technologists, are healthcare professionals that specialize in medical imaging. Radiographic services can range from a routine chest image to more invasive procedures involving one or more body systems through the use of sophisticated imaging equipment. The final result of the examinations performed represent the combined efforts of the Radiologist (a physician who interprets the medical imaging to treat and diagnose medical conditions) and the Radiographer. Radiographers work with modern radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment in the diagnostic radiology department and other specialty areas such as, vascular and cardiovascular departments, emergency departments, surgical suites, computerized tomography (CT scans) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The Department of Health Sciences, in cooperation with Baptist Health College Little Rock and St. Vincent Health System of Little Rock, offers a Bachelor of Science in Radiography degree.
